Lead for Voices of Hope
Last Friday, The Eastview High School choir department hosted a Sing-A-Thon in support of raising money for cancer. The idea was pursued by the Women's Corale a few monthes past, after the impact of a fellow choir student who is dealing with the deadly disease at home. Her mother was dianosed with pancreatic cancer, giving her hope of only six monthes to live. Her daughter, a senior at Eastview in Apple Valley, is an avid choir member. Her teacher and head of the choir department Judy Sagen, felt the need to help her student's family out. Soon after collecting thoughts with her students, they came up with the idea of hosting and all day choir extravaganza. The day was hosted by a notable alumni, and included an all day event lasting from 8:00am to 12:00 pm filled with solos, group performances, and even duets of parents and their children. The goal was to raise 25,000 that would be donated to the Angel Foundation, an organizattion that helps families out while they are living with a loved one who has cancer. The turnout was fulfilling, and it is not yet known how much the event has raised, but the outcome of community members and the success donation stand was more than hopeful for an evnt and cause well deserved.
